Hello Ladies, My name is Sara. Some of you know of me, as I hang out with a few of the Reckless Methods members. For those of you who know nothing of me...Im 24 and currently dont ride a bike. I will be getting a bike within the next few months, as my mother has always forbid me to ride... (my father lost his leg on a bike) However my brother and I have persuade her to let us ride. I cant wait!!! I also want to give mad props to any of you females out there either riding or stunting...

Along with introducing myself.. I am creating this thread to hopefully receive opinions and comments from you ladies about Salons. I have been in the nail industry for almost a year now and will be attending Esthitician school the start of next year. Anyways, I would appreciate your opinions and views on salons that you visit. 2 of my friends and I recenlty opened a nail salon and would greatly appreciate your honest responses to the following questions:

When u go into a Salon do you notice how sanitary everything is?

Do you pay attention to see if tools are being disinfected?

Now what DO YOU notice when u first walk into a Salon?

Do you currently go to a specific Salon? Why did you choose that salon? (cleanliness, prices, convenience???)

for a pedicure...would you rather a foot bucket that bubbles and has a massager like this one http://www.medical-supplies-equipme...ootbath3650.jpg or would you rather this simple bucket that you KNOW is clean and properly sanitized?? http://www.belava.com/store/gzdev.asp

now if you were about to get a manicure and the Nail tech asked you to sanitize your hands using the bottle of Sanitization spray sitting on the table BEFORE the service began would you be offended???

THANK YOU in advance for your opinions/responses/views.

Hi! I answered your questions, hope this helps!!
And welcome!!! :):) :hitler: :hitler:

When u go into a Salon do you notice how sanitary everything is?

Yes, I always pay attention to things of that nature. A clean workplace is a happy workplace, lol.

Do you pay attention to see if tools are being disinfected?

Yes, I do. My salon is very good on keeping the place clean. Theres workers constantly sweeping the floors and cleaning the tools. It will reflect negatively on your company if your not keeping your building up to par.

Now what DO YOU notice when u first walk into a Salon?

I notice the colors on the wall first. A bright color instantly makes me feel better. I notice all the artwork on the walls, and how spacious of an enviornment it is.

Do you currently go to a specific Salon? Why did you choose that salon? (cleanliness, prices, convenience???)

Yes, I've had the same hairstylist since I was 10 years old! I love the way she cuts my hair, dyes it and styles it. My mother goes to her also, and also I am very good friends with my stylist's daughters... we go to the same college. The salon's prices are more expensive that others I've seen, but there quality is unmatched in my town. Plus, I've been seeing my stylist for so long, she gives me discounts. I've referred my friends to her as well. Also, its about a 5 minute drive from my house.

for a pedicure...would you rather a foot bucket that bubbles and has a massager like this one http://www.medical-supplies-equipme...ootbath3650.jpg or would you rather this simple bucket that you KNOW is clean and properly sanitized?? http://www.belava.com/store/gzdev.asp

I personally like the bubbles, it adds to the experience and is a stress reliever.

now if you were about to get a manicure and the Nail tech asked you to sanitize your hands using the bottle of Sanitization spray sitting on the table BEFORE the service began would you be offended???

no, not at all. That only makes sense to so to me.

ok this is from a guys point of veiw. To me you can never be over cautious. The more the effort of being clean and Sanitized the better. I know when I go get my fro cut I make sure they pull combs and scissors out of the blue solution and if they drop it they get new ones. The more sanitized the better. If someone would get offended if you asked them to wash their hands then fuck them, they are dirty.

I worked in a salon for 4 years or so, things have to be clean weither people are going to notice or not and MA board of health gets harder and harder on salons every year.. the beauty industry is over run right now and has been for years .. good luck

hey sara whats up?

my name is emily and i got to cosmo school. we learn how to do nails and shit so i know about that kinda thing.
Ya i def. look to see if the place i am going to is clean... ive watched the videos about the stuff you can get from nail places.
if i opened a salon i would sell manicure and pedicure kits to each person who comes to get a service.. that way next time they can come back and bring their own supplies so they know who has been usin them....

about the foot bath thingys.... i would probably invest in pedicure throwns sooner or later b.c i wouldnt want a "professional" pedicure given to me from a little tub if i was payin good money. If that were the case i would honestly prob. go someplace else.....

and the last question... i wouldnt be offended if you asked to sanatize my hands.... thats part of ur job! hehe

hope i helped some

Thank you ladies for your opinions. I myself am wicked anal about sanitizing and disinfecting EVERYTHING...even if the MA state Boards werent so tough...I am just paranoid about sh*t like that. I just wanted to know your opinions from a clients point of view. I Am definitly going to invest in pedicure "throne". I dont personally like the idea of those cheap tub w/pull out plastics...I was just curious to see if you as a client would prefer to see the sanitizing being done.

And I myself have 3 sets of sanitizable/ disinfectable implements so I never have to worry about using dirty tools on a client. I also soak the tools in Barbacid (sp?) for a minimum of 20 minutes before I put them in a salon safe ziplock type bag which helps keep the tools from getting contaminated from germs/bacterias in the air inbetween visits. And for the impliments that are unable to be sanitized such a specific files or orange sticks. Each client has a their own little kit inwhich I keep their tools in with their name CLEARLY on the bag. (they can either take it or I have storage space)
