Spray on bed liner. It works pretty well untill gas gets on it.

Will gas mess it up though?

Hey dont take my idea, I already have it on my fairings so its copywritten. LOL :goofy: :goofy: ..
No but forreal, do it. It makes it tuff as crap and I heard it breaks up radar guns signals if your in to goin fast which if I get pulled over it aint gonna be for speedin but reckless drivin. LOL

I think they are resistant to gas once they have dried. I can look it up on the net.

herculiner is gas resistant once it's dried... but spend a little on rhino or a similar spray on liner, i had a full set of platics including tank done for under a hundred in des moines 'cause the shop owner thought it'd be cool to do a bike... very tough stuff... i'm sure if you prep the parts and tape off the tank holes they'd cut you a deal, the best thing to do is spray the inside and outside of the plastics to encase them, that way then you drop the bike the plastics crack/break inside instead of busting loose from the coating... the shop i got it done at has done lots of quad fenders and dirtbike fenders, i was the first street bike for them about 2 years ago...
spray on liners DO NOT break up radar...

When I spray the inside of the fairings, do i remove the sponge material on the inside or go around it?

Just go all the way around it. Thats what I did but I rock a stunt bike so it aint meant to be in mint condition. LOL

it started out as an automotive undercoating to protect from the road salt. then it was made with a thicker consistancy and applied to the inside of truck beds as a non slip bed protector. now there are about a million uses for it i.e. bikes.

I put the spray-on bedliner on the R and got a few drops of gas on it and whammo, the crap turned to tar in an instant. So, I gathered a few sheets of stickers and covered the dented in portion of the tank. Thats my fix.
