I just joined a carpool with a coworker. Going to save about 60 bucks a week in gas (that was at the 2.50 price)

YAY more beer money for me. Anyone else doing something like this

wish I could....I only live 3 miles from where I work. So I don't use too much gas.

I used to carpool with one other fellow when I had the Suburban and a 70 mile round-trip commute.
It worked out well for awhile, cutting my fuel costs in half. Then one day when it was not my turn to drive, I was relaxing in the passenger seat listening to the radio. Apparently, the driver wasn't paying much attention to the road as the car in front of us was clearly at a dead stop. He must have been daydreaming or something and I was wondering if he was ever going to apply the brakes. Finally, I realized he must have been in his happy place, so I blurted out "Hey!" He semi-snapped out of it... realized that he needed to slam on the brakes... and as he did so... he reached across and put his hand on my knee as the car came to a screeching halt. There was an awkward silence... followed by an apology from him... followed by more silence. While I was grateful that we didn't get into a horrific crash, I was ungrateful of the human seat-belt and I decided that I'd rather spend the extra money on gas.

Good luck Jay!

The guy is actually pretty cool and about the same age as me. He lives about 5 min from my house so I won't use any gas all week pretty much. I am looking forward to the copious amounts of beer this will let me drink

glad you can do the car pool thing...granted isn't that extra beer money only about 1 days worth of beer for you???

i thought about car pooling, but i like being able to come and go when i please and not have to be on another person's schedule. and next week the bike will be running again (it decided to spew oil last night, guess JB Weld isn't a fix all, last time i listen to the guys at the shop). if only we will have a mild winter with no snow where i can ride for most of it.

i do, but i think the bearing was just too beat up and well either way it didn't work...now i have to take the stupid crank cover and shit off AGAIN (lucky that damn back ordered bearing and another gasket is actually going to be here tuesday) try to get the bearing out, put new one in and put back together....i will probably hurt myself in the process.

Yeah no shit. I crapped my pants when the kid I am carpooling with told me that he has a 14 gallon tank and fills up once every 1.25 weeks or something like that..... I told him I will pay for his gas lol. 25 bucks a week is a cake walk for me
