go to lowe's/ home depot. get some braided cable and the ferrulls to match and make one. will cost prolly > $10 and works great. you can get a cable the same size and it will slide in the housing of the stock cable. i've done it on two f4i's.

if you take off the tank and airbox you'll be able to see the threaded part. If youhave vice grips, grab it by the threads and turn it out. After a few turns you should be able to turn it with your fingers, especially if the spring is off. Replace it with a new one.

leave the spring out, it'll turn alot easier and it will have considerably less stress on the cable

broke my stock one too. replaced it with a small nut and bolt from a hardware store and set it at a somewhat low idle, then Aaron from harleystunts.com gave me an idle cable from his old 900RR, slid that bad boy(no spring) where the other threads said too.....works perfect, set your stock location with the screw still in there to a low running idle and leave it alone!!!!!! The stock 600RR cable typically break right where it attaches to the screw so the cable thing didn't work for me, and might not work for you either. Have seen 3-4 friends break theirs and have their bikes idle at 4000 constantly with a two brothers pipe(giant 15" wide opening thats loud and annoying)!!!!
just FYI, don't take it to Honda Yamaha North around here....they tell you its a problem with "jetting in your carbs" :bitchsla: !!!!! They are idiots :shoot:
Another idea is to forget about your 600RR and give me the motor, you really want an F4i right.....j/k, already paid $865 to get a new motor shipped here for mine. Chainsaws are evil and will blow the hell outta cylinder #3 on your motor--oil starvation!!! No oil pickup available yet, but trying to pribe Big Scott into making one if I send him the parts he needs off my trashed motor!!! For now, G from SIC riders has told me, he was recommended to use ProLong in his oil to help keep this from happening. I've got a bottle from wal-mart ($19) and it should last for 2 oil changes!!!!
