nah painting dirt bikes doesnt work so well. When you crash the paint gets all fucked up and looks even worse than kawasaki green

Hey Mike, I am planning on buying a dirt bike in the spring......I was thinking 2 stroke 125 new. But Chris was telling me it would be too hard to stunt a 2 stroke....what do you think?? I want to use it as a dirt bike, trail riding etc....but I also want to use it to practice stunting?!?!?!

Chris is right, 2 strokes really suck for stunting (except power wheelies). The powerband comes on like a light switch. They really kick ass in the dirt though.

I would reccomend a 4 stroke 450 so you wont feel the need for more power.

I dont know how much they cost, but theyre not cheap because theyve only been out for a few years.

well I guess I should explain, I had a 954 I was getting pretty good at but then I met a minivan and got fucked up, now I got plenty of $$ back to replace my bike, but wasn't wearing a helmet so it all went into fixing my teeth/face. So now I'm back at square one $$ wise. I was thinking I could get a dirt bike this spring so i don't take out another loan on the 1000RR I really want. So instead get a dirt bike, enjoy it in the dirt and be able to practice the clutch stuff I wanna do but on the safety of dirt. So if I'm gonna spend big bucks it'll be on a street bike. Then in a year or two when I've had a chance to save up, I'll have the practice off road and be able to bring it back to a big bike. So more power isn't my thing, just something fun in the dirt and that I can practice stunting on??

yeah but for that $$ I'd just get another street bike, I'm looking for something to ride, but save some $$ on, i think I'm gonna go with the TT-R230 or TT-R250 four stroke. It'll be fun off road and I'll be able to get some stuntin practice in that will be useful when I do replace my street bike.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Exactly bro, She's great. For a year or so I have been saying how I wish I had a stunt bike b/c I didn't want to risk fuking my gixxer up (got too much money in it), so she bought me a 2003 R1 (used with like 10,000 miles), bought a cage for it, a sprocket and chain, and DB bars. Not 2 months later, I was looking at some of the pics on the net of fiddies and seen a few vids and stated how much fun it looked, so she went out and bought me a '05 CRF 70, a slick for the back, manual clutch, and stunt pegs. That's why I say "hint, hint" to her in case she see'd it on here. :) Not bad from a Hooter's girl gone bad :shhh: I do believe I will keep this one. :check:

if you plan to stunt more than trail ride, i'd say ttr125.. or ttr225.. can't go wrong.. or go for a drz430, they are pretty cheap, and are pretty well rounded

Is the ttr125/225 2 or 4 stroke?? I've basically gathered that trying to stunt a 2 stroke will only help with power woolies and I want more clutch/slow stuff?? Plus the TT-R230 is only like 3K new??

i was just stuntin a ttr 125 L today.. had electric start too. disc brake in the front. bigger wheels. first time i rode the thing..in 2 tries i was ridin wheelies for hundreds of feet. clutch it up 1st, 2nd, 3rd...4th is gettin tough..same with 5th but do-able. theyre alot better then 50's ( my opinion ) i still gotta work on the circles with the ttr..the 50 is cake

they don't make the ttr225 anymore. i've got a ttr125 and ttr225. i like the 225 alot better. the 125 is like riding a wooden chair and the 225 is like riding a lazyboy lol. but as far the 230 and 250, i'd go with the 250 just to have a little more power. that would be the only reason. any of the ttr's are good bikes tho. i'm sure you'll like wich ever one you choose. oh ya, the 225 was hella easy to put a 12 bar on. the 125 required some fabbing.

Yeah just cuz of $$ I'm gonna get the TT-R230 but I'm gonna put the K&N filter and GYTR pipe on it first thing for a lil more power. Glad to know it's easy to put a 12 bar on, I'll be hitting you up in the spring for more info!! Thanks man!!

I wouldnt even think of buying a thumper. The way I suppose you'll be abusing the bike, you're better off with a two smoke. Made top be punished, and when it comes to a rebuild, you're talking a fracture of what the four stroke will set you back, son. I saw someone's post had some crap like " get a 4t, you'll miss the power" Wrong again.........guess why 250 2t's are racing against 450 4t's? mmmmmmm

Wanna have white knuckles on da handlebars and shitstains on yer knickers??? Do what I did, get yourself a CR500.

My friend's 9yr old son has a TTR 225.
