View Full Version : Bleeding Handbrake
Hate to admit it, but I've never bled my handbrake on my own. Anyone got any tricks for doing it? I've already bled it at the master and all the way through and have no air, but I just think it could be better. Any other techniques for it?

in all seriousness....
if you dont have a pump bleeder, just keep bleeding it regular, over, and over and over, and over, etc......
then tomorrow do it again, i went through almost a whole bottle of brake fluid.
prolly a little unecessary, but everyone sweats my bike and handbrake, shit works mint....
ride it a little and do it again after , it'll get better....
Thats what I figured. We bled till there was no air bubbles for a few minutes straight.. then I ziptied it for a few hours and it got a bit better.. I want to bleed it some more.
When you bleed it over and over are you bleeding from all the banjos or just the rear caliper?

seriously, just do it a few times over the next 2 days......
what set-up you got?
and the first time i bled it when i put it on, i did for like 15-20 min straight.....lol, not even kidding.....
and you made sure to do the furthest point from the master first , right?

put a tube off the caliper bleeder into a bottle of brake fluid and pump away about 5 min flat

sweet, I pretty much did what y'all said... I just think I gotta tap it all out and then bleed some more.
Willy, another question; Do you know how to tighten down those bolts that hold the swingarm on correctly? Mine are outta whack

nags, take the handbrake off the bars, flip it ova like it would sit normal, bleed it and the put it back.holy shit i sound like i'm from MASS, (ova)

yea..... i was almost always on SL... but now that its down in have nothing else to do with my time

I went with that method.. Bled the shit out of them.. rode for a few minutes and got everything nice and hot.. then bled through a full reservoir.. let everything cool down.. rode for a few mins again, bled again.. did that about 5 times

i bled mine normal, but from what it looks like, that isn't enough.
so how is it now?
Dunno yet.. I let it sit over night with a zip tie on it. It's also a brand new caliper and rotor so it's all gotta seat properly still
