Noooo!

Don't get me wrong, I love Led Zepplin...but "Stairway" is one of the most overplayed guitar songs by newbs..... :headache: Learn "Over the hills and far away" or "the gallows pole" instead....my personal fav is "hey hey what can I do" :clint:

thanks for the advice everyone!! i can already play over the hills but i never learned stairway to heaven, although you make a good point about it being over played

The funny thing is that in music stores here, the second someone starts playing "Stairway" some people groan, some roll their eyes..doesn't matter if it's being played note for note....sad, for it being such a great song and all. Tom Petty has some pretty good acoustic stuff, "Mary Jane's Last Dance" "Free Fallin'" etc.....Dire Straits got alot of good riffs "money for nothing" is always fun to play, and it's pretty easy. Lynard Skynard songs work too....

first of all YES i can play the beginning of fade to black correctly.Try DEE(randy Rhodes) bouree in e minor or any other classical tune Tune your acoustic down to open d tuning. low E to D-a to g-d stays-g stays b stays high e to a d. Then try some blues stuff. Use a slide or whatever you want. Find some muddy waters recordingsand try to figure out some. That older blues is really fun after headbanging stuff. Makes a nice change of pace
