Probably a foot or so. The other side doesn't look as impressive but it is also shielded more by the trees. I had to cut down the banks at the end of the driveway because they blocked the view in my truck. There's no chance of seeing anything in the car.
That's pretty impressive. In January 99 the town sent out heavy machinery to push back all of the snowbanks into people's yards. The snowbanks were too tall to see over (even with my K-10 full size Blazer), and the snowplows couldn't clear the streets properly. The banks were so tall the snow would just fall back onto the roadway. That's probably a yearly occurance for you though.

They go out a few times a year to cut the snow banks back. A lot of snow gets hauled off in dump trucks as well.
One year I was up in Northern Maine for a snowmobile trip and the snow banks on route 1 were up to the telephone wires. They don't use normal plow trucks up there. They have some huge machinery.

I don't think there is a volleyball team. At least not that I know of.
Every May they have "maine day" which is a wednesday off from classes. The frats set up an "Ooze Ball" tournament. It's a sloppy mud pit with a volleyball net across it. There have been years where it was warm enough for the bikinis to come out. That's a good spectator sport.

I went to Maine ONCE when I was about 12. My mother, who was unfamiliar with Maine weather, told me to bring my bathing suit. When I got there, I raced all the way out to the rocky beach in my bathing suit. I dipped the tip of my foot in the water, turned and immediately ran back inside the hotel. That and the ball end of the shorty lever is useless other than keeping from getting impaled by your brake lever in a wreck. I'd rather have a longer lever for a mainly street going bike.

I have big hands. I can get it to partially disengage but not fully. The plan is to have a short lever so my other fingers aren't behind it. If I can get the easy pull to work as well, all the better. I'm not too worried about that part, I have a strong grip.

"A spectacular, rotating binary star system is a ticking time bomb, ready to throw out a searing beam of high-energy gamma rays that could lead to a major extinction event — and Earth may be right in the line of fire. Australian science magazine Cosmos Magazine reports: 'Though the risk may be remote, there is evidence that gamma ray bursts have swept over the planet at various points in Earth's history with a devastating effect on life. A 2005 study showed that a gamma-ray burst originating within 6,500 light years of Earth could be enough to strip away the ozone layer and cause a mass extinction. Researchers led by Adrian Melott at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, U.S., suggest that such an event may have been responsible for a mass extinction 443 million years ago, in the late Ordovician period, which wiped out 60 per cent of life and cooled the planet.'"

One fingering even a raptor lever get tiring after a while in heavy traffic.
How would gamma rays cool the earth? I thought it was huge asteroids crashing into earth that caused all that business. Not like anyone was around anyway.
We're all just germs on God's yo-yo that we call the universe anyway.

Figure even if you overpay by $500, you are saving $500 on a moving van. And if you want to upgrade to a new trailer, out there is the place to pick one up. Or she could pick up a used one and sell it for a profit on LI.

The profit wont be worth it after the increased cost of gas. I average 19 highway without the trailer and 12ish with it. Thats a few hundred dollars on a 1500+ mile trip.
She also doesnt have enough stuff to warrant a trailer. People who dont have motorcycle habits (or some other vehicle) dont have all the overhead you and I do. She can fit everything she owns (including kids stuff) in an suv. With a small pickup, she could fit all her furniture too.

Most full size trucks are IFS now too except for ford.
Another side benefit to having her drive a vehicle out to you is that if she doesn't need a trailer the truck will get way better fuel milage than a U-haul box truck ever dreamed of getting. Plus u-hauls smell funny and are pretty crappy. (no cd player)

For what it's worth my long bed s-10 had to have the tailgate down to haul a bike. My f150 and F250 shortbeds can haul bikes with the tailgate up. Their beds are 6 3/4'. Scotty's ranger had to have the bike loaded sideways to close the tailgate.
+1 I hated the flare side and the short bed. I love our trucks now.

Physical size looks good. But the biggest motor it comes with is right on par with my jeeps 4.SLOW

Just buy a half ton short bed and be done with it. You don't need a solid front axle. You'll get the same fuel mileage with the big V8 that a V6 mid size truck will. Well that depends on gearing. 3.73s+ suck for mileage.

I dont want a full size truck though. As it is, people hit my mirror if i dont fold it in on my street.
I also think that if I get a pickup instead of an suv, I can get away with keeping my 5 foot trailer instead of getting a 6.

Word. If you get a lifted 4x4 just do a SFA swap. There was only one front diff that was decently stong. I broke 2 of the aluminum ones on my 95 blazer.
