Anyone do any metal detecting? I bought an elcheapo detector on ebay and the boys and i are having a hell of a good time looking for stuff. I haven't found any real treasures yet but have found quite a few 69 and newer coins. I am already looking at getting another detector so the whole family can go looking. Jake

My dad is a metal detecing freak..lol he loves that shit.. he finds so much shit at the beach and in the yard..
Found some necklaces, rings, money, etc....
Hes got a whites metal detector or someshit,,, top of the line one
Those whites detectors are excellent. Found a silver 1923 liberty dime tonight in excellent shape. Not worth too much but my first REAL find other than newer coins.

No hating on your hobby, but I think Metal Detecting is gay, saw a lot of peeps doing it on the beach during my vacation and never understood why they spend hours on the beach looking like idiots, just my 02, if you like it....go on!

ive never done it.... but i guess its the idea that u might find something thats worth alot. looks like itd be kinda fun... id give it a shot.
I used to kind of think it was kind of funny watching people waving a detector around but always wanted one anyway. I don't know..... its just kind of cool when you find something that someone lost. It's like when we found a spear head in the garden. You wonder who lost it/when/what were they doing when it was lost. Around iowa you don't really get rich doing it but on some beaches where there are alot of tourist you can make some pretty good money or start one hell of a coin/jewelry collection. Jake

My dad has 2 white's metal detectors. They are expensive but he said they have paid for themselves. He goes to the schools around here and to really old houses and farms and asks if they care if he looks around. He has found all kinds of stuff. I did it with him a couple of times. Its not bad. The metal detector he has now shows you what it is that the detecter is picking up. Pretty cool. As far as underwater ones I imagine somebody makes them but they wont be cheap.

They do make them for underwater... and they are not cheap at all...
Im pretty sure whites had a underwater one.. my dad was lookinginto gettting it..
