I rode buddies 954 other day and I am sold on putting a 954 front end on my f4i. I am going to buy 954 forks, triples, axel, rim, fender, head set bearings, spacers, brake calipers, and clipons, then sell my front end to recoop the price. What hidden problems is there to converting the front ends?

if its from a 954, buy new bearings. if its from a 929, use whichever ones are in better condition. its a really easy swap

Gages don't fit right. It raises up the front end. tape the gauges to the back of the headlights and cheat up the forks in the tripple a bit. Other than that it is a drop in replacement.

the problem is unless u were rollin gorrilla 700 footers on ur buddies 54...its not really worth it, i did it, i had a lot of problems cuz i rushed it on and didnt use the correct wheel...clipons stretch ur cables out when they are on top in all i got a great deal on my frontend and its kind sweet havin it, but for some reason i wish i woulda had the stocks(bought the bike with a wrecked front end)
but u got the idea, buy everything cept front break calipers unless u like the 929 master feel, you def need rotors tho....929 usesf4i bearins 954 has garbage pin bearings. make sure u get the correct wheel spacers also and put them on the correct side tooo
suggest vortex woodcraft or freestyle clipons with the purchas tho....

I did the conversion on mine and I like the way they feel and look. But, be prepared to buy seals every other week. They blow very easy.

Yeah, it sucks. I would say buy an f4i to learn then get a 636. They already have a good front end and they are more powerful.
