ok, i bought the bike about a month or so ago, it had valve tap. i know its normal. it didnt bother me at all. well today i go to clutch up a standie, and i hear a click. then the tap got loud as fuck.
anyone know what it is??? i brought it home and took the valve cover off and it looks minty fresh? i dont see anything wrong in there.
also, i took the throttle bodies off and looked inside the intake ports, on cylinder 1, theres some carbon build up on the top of the valve...
the bikes only got like 7500 miles on it............
help!!!

thats what i was thinking... but would it just all of a sudden start to knock like that? or would it happen over time?

mine makes all kinds of funny noises. Everytime i stall a circle, just before the engine completely stops, it sounds like crank bearings are gonna spread themselves on the pavement.
it makes all kinds of odd ticking and clicking noises. I run a manual cct, and keeping that bitch tight cut down on alot of it.

Yeah it may have stopped putting tension on the chain, with the stock ones they can go at any time

you could measure your valve clearances with a feeler gauge to see if they are way to loose. I would tell you the specs but I sat on the service manual I had on cd rom fuck!!
cam chain tesionour could be failing. I got a bunch of em I could send you one if you paypal me like 10 bucks. pm me with your info if you wanna try it out. It takes 5 minutes to change it out.
to the guy above me that said he had a manual cct where did you get it? that sounds like a good idea post up a link
on another note you might of done what I have done many times and that its spun a rod or crank bearing.

i got the manual cct... that wasnt it, i pulled the engine, oil pan, etc, nothing was wrong with the bottom end. i took the head off, pistons out, everything, and theres nothing wrong.
did a compression test, number 1 cylinder leaked like a bitch. im thinkin its an exhaust valve. i took the head to the shop to figure it out for me.
we also did a leak down test. all seemed well there.
looks like i got a winter project.....
damn that sucks, i had an 03 636, minty. Didnt make a noise at all, then one day I drop it and it turns off instantly, never turned on again, bent a valve or something because it jumped a tooth on the timing chain....

i have had hondas since i started riding... ill never get anything else...
