so, my current girlfriend got a job in NYC after graduating and ill be graduating from ISUand plan to move out there for grad school and job. not my ideal place but shes in fashion and after she gets some exp and the likes then hopefully wont be there.
but lately she has been asking way to many questions like, how busy are you going to be and what kind of job will you have or what kind of research will you be doing. etc.
christ. i dont fucking know. i dont know what job i will have or what research ill be doing. the plan is get a job with my B.S. and voluteer at a school in research until next year for grad school.
i mean moving from fucking iowa to NYC with nobody to fall back on like she did and now shes pissed cause i told her to stop trying to plan the future and focus on the present. it just frustrates the hell out of me that ill be studying and ill get a "hello" then a question like will you ahve time for me between work and research and what kind of traveling will you have to do?" well fuck, wont have to worry about that if i never move out there cause your pushing me the fuck away.
dont people understand that you cant do that shit
its like the first time your watching a movie and 5 min in, somebody is asking who everybody is and what they do and whats going on and whats going to happen. well shit. watch the fucking movie.
thats my rant for the month.
id be better just going to what ever job pays be the most and start over with the girl situation.

dont blame her, blame the estrogen
You should just dump her now and tell all this ranting to her face.
What she needs is a guy that knows what he wants and realizes that life is not "living on the moment", but preparing for the future.

my girl isnt that bad but she likes to prepare along ways ahead. tell her about it, if she dont like it, dump her, no reason to stay if your not happy. no way would i move for a girl to go somewhere and not have nothin. do it for you, not her. :thumbsup

while I don't like your terminology for a female, I do agree with you on not moving because of a significant other.
ONLY move to New York if its something you want to do. Adjusting to life after college is hard on its own, never mind doing that in a new city where you know noone. If you move for her and things don't work out as planned (you two start to argue, jobs fall thru, apartment hunting doesn't work, etc.) you will start to subconciously blame each other and things will just spiral down from there. Is NY the place you want to be after graduation? Only head there if it is truely what you want and is best for your future.
As for the questions, girls like to plan ahead. Its in our nature. You can tell her to calm it down a little but until you give her concrete answers, the questions will not stop. She might be thinking by her asking you a ton of questions that she is helping you to prepare for graduation and the move by thinking of things that you might have neglected or never even thought of to begin with. I'm sure she has no bad intentions, she just wants you to be prepared for everything. After all, graduation is only 3 months away, and by this point, if you plan on moving, you need to have alteast a few concrete answers (money you have saved up, a moving date, directions to NYC... something!!) To get her to calm down a little, show her you are being proactive in the moving process.
All will work out in time.
:thumbsup

moving is kinda a big deal...you're her boyfriend, she's under the impression that you're going to be moving with her...you either need to tell her you're not or you that you are and then you do need to do research for what you will be doing in new york
i mean moving from fucking iowa to NYC with nobody to fall back on like she did and now shes pissed cause i told her to stop trying to plan the future and focus on the present. it just frustrates the hell out of me that ill be studying and ill get a "hello" then a question like will you ahve time for me between work and research and what kind of traveling will you have to do?" well fuck, wont have to worry about that if i never move out there cause your pushing me the fuck away.
it is kinda a big deal...just saying
dont people understand that you cant do that shit
sometimes you have to. i have to be pushy with my boyfriend, but that's because he's too laid back and i have to make sure that he stays on top of thing
its like the first time your watching a movie and 5 min in, somebody is asking who everybody is and what they do and whats going on and whats going to happen. well shit. watch the fucking movie.
it's moving across the country from iowa to nyc....it's a little different than a movie
id be better just going to what ever job pays be the most and start over with the girl situation.
so then do it
not to be a douche, but i'm siding with your girlfriend based off of the info you have given. if you don't feel like she's worth moving for then tell her that. don't waste her time. i'm living in kansas....my boyfriend lives in long island...i'm taking myself and my children there this summer to live. not every relationship is the same so for the people saying not to move for someone....dont' listen to them. do what you want, you might get burned, you might not. i'm not sure about all girls, but myself and pretty much all the other girls i know like to plan. i've been looking at houses for us to move into for the past month. i've asked agazillion questions...i'm sure it's annoying...but like i said above, it's moving in together/1000+ miles away, it is a big deal.....
in my opinion as well, if you find someone who is going to move who isn't asking alot of questions or doing the research you should be scared. i did that two years ago when i tried living in mass....i was there for not even three months before i had to move back to kansas.

Hey Becky what time are you going to get out of nursing school once you move in with Mike? Are you going to work weekends when you intern at the hospital? What time are you going to get home from interning?
Those are the kinds of questions she is asking Him. Shit that he has no way of possibly knowing or even guessing at right now.

Re-read his post. She wants to know everything about his schedule and a job that he doesn't even have yet. How the hell is he supposed to know these things? It could turn out a million different ways. There are no answers to these questions yet. Women get way too far ahead of themselves.

i was 6 when i decided to be a lawyer. i even have a picture wearing my "10 reasons I want to be a lawyer" shirt when I was 8.
i'm defintely a planner too.

I think its silly to ask such specific questions about the future. Generalized questions about the future are fair. Whether the answer has any merit is based on the individual's determination too. Don't we all make short term and long term goals?

Female goal:

Male goal:
bang my girlfriend
Any goal that secretly ends in "happily ever after" is just stupid bs that helps stupid girls get through their stupid day.

My parents wanted me to follow in their footsteps and grow up to be a "Dilbert loving, pen protector wearing" Engineer like you. Hert-herttttt.

Now that I think about it...the PAR men are the biggest planners on this forum. They plan employment and how to raise funds. They discuss retirement packages. They plan how to turn funds into assets and vice versa. They plan their next moves in that stupid truck video game.

yes you would be correct that men plan on making money but women plan on getting money. thats a big difference and this isfound cross culturally. maybe if i get bored ill start anew thread telling men how to get better women. one plus side in evolutionary pschology
yes im planning on my job and making money to support my ass, i am not planning on my hours at work, or how much ill travel due to my research. that is unpredictable.
