doberman's are awesome, i had one when i was little but the only thing really wrong with them is that their brains never stop growing....and also with the ear cropping, it doesn't always work...

That wolf or wolf mix looks completely badass... where did you find a dog like that?

justin.
01-17-2005, 11:20 AM
you can buy wolf hybrids in the news paper, they are mostly wolves crossed w/ an animal that looks very similar, like a husky of some sort

Amanda
01-17-2005, 11:23 AM
Are they good dogs to own? Meaning, they aren't going to go crazy and turn, you know what I mean?

justin.
01-17-2005, 11:24 AM
not too sure, i know here in texas they are very popular ... i grew up with a girl who breed them .... here's a link of some sort.... http://www.pets4you.com/wolf.html

I really want another dog and your dog is beautiful!! Thanks for the info... I am going to go google them now

justin.

they need RELIGIOUS TRAINING ... well that's my opinion with any dog ... but these hybrids are as much as 80% pure wolf still an at that point, containment becomes an issue ... wolves are REMARKABLY agile and can easily scale fences if their instincts take over ... so training and a watchful eye is all i know

thanks, i love them a ton!

the only thing that has ever scared me with them is one day they were together in there fenced in area (its a bout 100 ft by 100ft area) and i went in by then next thing you know there were fighting!! i thought i was going to die! :eyepop: stuck in between two 150+ lbs dogs that were going at it! I FREAKED out got them apart and they havent been together since its weard out of 3 years together just one day they turned on each other? now we keep them apart thats the only bad experance i have ever had with them in 3 years!

just letting you know it can happen and you just have to keep a eye on them because they are a wild animal ya know.

in those pics you can see the scratch under my right eye from them lol we were playen and i got wooped on lol

That would not be good for me... That is what I was worried about, having to watch and make sure they don't turn or fight. Maybe someday I will have one but probably not anytime soon :innocent: Your dog is beautiful though. Both of them actually.

well thank you!

i feel with any wild animal they can be domistacated but you still have to pay clost attention to them and give them extra caution and care honestly they are babies it was just that one time that they fought with each other? dont know why it happend but just have to take special precautions now

justin.
01-17-2005, 12:01 PM
well amanda that's cool that you take into account the responsibilities inherent with a certain breed... alot of people dont do that, and that's how dogs/entire breeds get bad wraps ... so i applaude you http://www.seventyfivesouth.com/images/justin/forum/handclap.gif

if there were more people like that around there wouldnt be breed specific legislation.

Yeah the only thing I can teach dogs is how to sit and beg :) Not the best when it comes to those types of things... ah well, I will just stick with my baby Spike for now. He's a golden retriever... a pretty "safe" dog, but I love him!

hey there is nothing wrong witht that at all. i feel it is all in how you raise them i mean people hate pit bulls becuase they dont know anything about them and they just think they are bad dogs. well i love my pit she is a great dog! also i mean how many times have you seen a pit bull play with wolves lol they are funny to watch and they have fun thats all that matters.

i feel its how you raise them 110%

I admit, I was one of the people that did not like Pits at all! I believed all the hype and everything else.... until I read something that someone (bikerboy) or someone else posted... it was a website about how all of these dogs were mistreated and bred to fight and they were beaten, it was horrible and then I read up about them and how they are loyal and everything else. So yeah, I agree its all about how you raise them.

justin.
01-17-2005, 12:22 PM
i love my pits and wouldnt trade them for the world... i take them to petco or soemthing like that and watch all the other dogs that arent obidient jumping on people as they pass by, where-as the people who have balls enough to come near my dogs, or for that matter, their children, then when they ask what kind of dog they are and i tell them they're pits ... its like a moment of enlightenment for them... my brindle pup would sit there, and i kid could pet her and she wouldnt move, but if you stopped she would start to try and "shake" with you cause that's what we taught her to do to "say please" and she was always very proper... i miss that f'in dog

not exactly sure... all i know is she did it once, and i praised her, and everytime she'd do it id praise her and be like "good girl to smile" and eventually it stuck, and she did it on command.

my friends dalmation does it too, ive been told its a type of mimicry that dogs do if they see the handler to do it. i guess you just dont smile enough around your dogs :D
