Hey guys...my bike is 2 down 10 up, and I'm not sure how great it will be on the street....I have ridden it a few times like that, but not enough to know what it tach's at highway speeds in 6th gear (at least I didn't pay much attention to it). I don't want to be redlining the rotten thing just cruising around down.
Just curious what setups you use/see on the street? What is recommended? The bike is setup as a stunt bike, so I'd still like a good setup on there to learn the slow stuff, but I also want to be able to go out and cruise with buddies on their stock bikes.
Thanks for the info.

well Josh, first of all your bike is -1 +10 i'm pretty sure... secondly you'll have to ride around in 6th even on the street and not highway. I find myself wanting to keep shifting but can't cause i'm already in 6th. lol
you'll be fine on the interstate, for me it vibrates a little too much. But still workable. I think my max speed is about 130'ish with my 900 -1 +10.
on my ZX(-1 +6) I keep up with traffic on the interstate and my speedo reads about 105mph. haha..
just gotta take it for a ride and check it out. I almost want 2 rims with different setups, incase we wanna take long road trips. I also would need a mint gas tank.

Yeah I was off....it is actually -2 +10. I'm dumb....you know more about my bike than I do....hahaha.....well you were closer at least.
I was thinking the same thing as you....with a different sprocket on my other rim, and a different chain to fit without having to mess around too much. However I did want to sorta run the same thing as much as possible to get used to it....We'll have to see.
I plan on doing a lot of street riding this year and I don't wanna be taching 10k doing 65mph...ya know....lol.
Winter is bumming me out cause I can't answer these questions myself by going out and trying the bike out.....damnit.

Your not gonna have fun on the streets like that. And your friends are gonna be pissed that they can only go 70.
However, if you have another sprocket(small), carrier, and 2 master links on the chain
you can switch them in 5 minutes
I was doing that for a while, then I got lazy and bought a backup bike

so yours is -2 afterall.. that's cool.
yea, i'm actually making my 6R streetable this year I think. and my 900 can stay geared up my ass...
we'll have to rock a ton of street footage for sure this summer.
If you look in the Stuntdelicous DVD, all of me, James, and Mike is pretty much street footage. :fiddy:

so you think a stock sprocket on the front and the +10 in the back will be alright for street riding? Obviously better than the -2. That is a good idea. Thanks.
Jared....we are gonna rock the streets 24/7 this summer...haha :comedy:

No I meant change the rear sprocket. If you have al the materials, it only takes 5 minutes to do. Just lay the bike on its side.

yeah my bike is already crunchy....and i know how that saying goes....kinda sucks....too poor right now to have another bike.....
i'm not so concerened with going fast....i mean, I like it and all, but I can live without it. My main concern is cruizing at about 70-80mph, I don't want the bike taching like crazy.....guess I'll have to mess around with some different setups this summer....I was just curious what a good mix of the two was....
thanks everybody

on a 929 +10 and stock in the front is pretty much the perfect compromise. good for slow shit, and enough gear for the eway. and second gear has enough motor brake for eway shit. on other bike's speedos its about 150mph 6th gear rev limiter.
-1 +7 on a 929 and they cann't catch me boy! :pimp:

If there was a good mix, everybody would have it. But like Trick said, you cant have the best of both worlds. I used to rock -1 +10, for a long time. But even that sucked on the streets, and when I got my slow shit down, I wanted a bigger sprocket for idle tricks. Kind of reminds me of dual sport dirt bikes, sucks at both ends.

Didn't want to read the whole post, but I have -1 +7 on my 98 900rr. I can keep up with anybody on the street, but can still rock slow as hell wheelies. Won't be doing high chair 12's without a hand brake, but so what?

I had -1 +10 on my 900rr and I still could get to 100mph. I liked it. Got the same setup for my 636 project. Just haven't got it together yet.

-1+17 is not the way to go, I removed all of my guages, but I figured I was running about 70-80 at 11000rmp in 6th on my 900RR

I have a street bike thats only down one on the counter, and it revs pretty hard on the highway
-1 +9 rides fine for me on the street. The bike will do just over 100 but thats cool, most the guys I ride with are geared up too so no one gets pissed that they have to wait...:spin:
