i was doing power wheelies then looped it. that is the wrong way to learn. first off anyone that wants to learn BP needs to learn rear brake control first or your most likely gonna loop at some point. i would invest in a fiddy. it def helped me alot and now everything on the big bike is coming alot easier and its less scary cause i know if i go past the bp i can save myself. the more comfortable you are with your riding skills the easier it is to conquore

i have a fiddy and I have yet to learn the right amount of pressure to apply on the rear brake to ride it out for miles. I can bring it down and I can loop but I cant control the wheelie with the rear brake yet

quads help to

to my understanding Quads help alot because you dont have to worry about the side to side balance only the up and down balance.

a quad will help you get rid of your fear to a point....then you have to hop back on the bike
yep, I looped too! Dont learn that way, its expensive and hurts a lot! Also, what helped me, is putting your left foot on the rear peg, that seemed to help me leaps and bounds over anything else.

i have to say quads help ALOT...i get on my 400ex and ride wheelies then jump on the bike...and ride wheelies...its the best for learning what a"machine" feels like when it gets to the balance point. then once you get on the bike start slow and remember the side to side balance your adding. once your rolling forward you have the momentum to keep it str8 UNLESS, your doing SUPER slow wheelies.COVER YOUR BACK BRAKE. your left foot on your passenger peg helps to...it gives you a sense of being able to "steer" the bike... borrow a quad or buy one...try the balance point there first...get it there then bring it to the two wheels...l8r josh

Stop doing power wheelies. Learn them right.

Quads help. I wish I had a quad to rock to learn more brake control. Just get use to using my foot while up in that position. Also start out small, and film yourself. I was doing wheelies and was scared of looping then I saw myself on film and was like damn I can go WAY higher before I go over backwards. That helped.

I am new to this site but have been stunting for about 2yrs on everything
from bikes, quads, and pocketbikes to anything that can crash.
I personally feel that tapping the brake makes the bike bounce up and down.
I changed my brake fluid to a super dot 4 (higher boiling point) and put on
good quality brake pads. Then learn to apply the brake with even pressure to
control the bike as it rises, if you feel that you are riding the brake then you
have control. Clutch up the bike and catch the bike from looping with the
back brake.
12 o'clock is good
13 o'clock is scrapping like a bad ass
14 o'clock is painful & expensive :headache:

Maybe you should learn how to spell "balance" before you jump back on a bike...

you shouldn't fear the balance point, you should fear the wreck!!!
as far as quads go, I've had a lot of fun on my 400EX and wheelied it alot and did slow stuff on it and scraped the bar like crazy and ridden loooonnnnngggggg wheelies on it. I don't feel it transfered to the RR though, other than helping to learn how to clutch it up.
my foot on the back left peg helped more than the 400EX.
reminds me, I need to fix my 400EX again, .....can break it right if it ain't fixed

whatever you do don't go thinking..."I've gotta keep going back further" The reason I say this is because everyone kept telling me "when you think you're high, you're not even close just keep going back" Well I did that shit and kept going back and back and back and back and sure enough I went way the fuck past the infamous BP. I suck but my advice (which is very good by the way) would be to simply learn at your own pace and take it easy. There's always another wheelie and another chance for the BP. Just be careful because I'm sure you've figured out already you can fuck yourself up pretty bad on these bikes if you're not careful Chef

I looped... it sucked
I came to realization the other day... stunting is kind of like skateboarding. There's a few people who are naturals at it for whatever reason, then there's the rest of us that are trying to emulate what the naturals do. You can watch all the videos and read all the internet forums you want... it don't mean sh|t once that front wheel shoots up in the air.
The problem is, you have to go at your own pace. That could mean you learn BP in a week or that it takes you two full seasons. Me, I'm one of the unlucky ones that will take some time to learn, but that might have something to do with that fact that I was 34 years old with a wife and 3 kids before I ever tried to wheelie. This means that I KNOW I am not invincible any more (like I was when I was 21), and a little scurred of f'ing myself up so bad I can't take care of my family any more.
So, I take things at my own pace... if that means all the GSE idiots on SL call me a "fag who will never 12" so be it... I'm not in this to impress anybody, I'm in it because I love the feeling of being up on one wheel.
There are also a lot of people out there who are willing to help newbies learn, they're just not as common as the haters (one of my peeves about stunting... the haters that is)
