This video is sooo true. Pits have a bad rep...but actually all they want is love, my pit can be a tad shady but he is sooo loyal to me & loves kids..but if I feel threatened he knows it & can get shady on someone. But socializing pits is the key...they are sweet dogs.

My pit is 6 years old, and I would never own another breed of dog. He is very loyal, very protective, and has a great personality. Wouldnt trade him for anything! If they are raised correctly, they are great dogs!

i think pits are wonderful pets. in your paper just emphasize that the dog only do what its was taught. so i dont care whether its a pit or a raut or almost anything they will do what they owner teaches them. just look at police dog for an example i think they are german shepreds they are wonderful pets but look what they can do when the officer give the command. so basically it all balls down to the owner and not really the dog. dont get me wrong every dog will have a bad day.

with me and my girls 2 pits i have know at least 4 college students that was very scared of dogs and i mean dogs not just pits and now they love them. its all in how they are raised.

You will do more harm than good for the breed. The teacher will ANALYZE IT take what he gathers, and in the future will give his opinion based off what he learned from a person that doesn't know a THING ABOUT THEM. Nt to be harsh. But I am sorry, you do't know enough about the breed to represent them. IN other words, you'l do more harm than good.

If you know rottweilers so well then you'd know they were form Germany in the sector known as Rottweil. Thus, putting an ER on the end of it and calling it a rottwelier and how they were used for cart pulling, herding, etc...

You just don't know enough.

Do us, the ones who work so hard to project a positive light and put soooo much effort to help in the fight, a favor instead of putting a piece of our work (as words to one person who needs to learn more to a person who has clout and will spread his opinion) in the tubes to folks who don't know them let alone dogs in general...

well first i think what she is doing is good and somewhat brave because most people will have choose a topic of something they know about. but she didnt so i admire her for that. second she did the right thing cause she could have went to the pet store or library to get books about pits but she didnt she came on the forum and asked the us the ppl who own them to give here any information we could about the dogs. now so what she cant spell roitweller how is that significant to the fact. there are a lot of dogs i cant spell there names which doesnt make me an dumbass. now you are sitting there saying well if she would have asked specific question you would have helped her so why dont you just answer those specific questions and stop trying to put the person down. basically if you arent going to help just read the post and leave it alone. there is no need for your 2 cents on something like this especailly when you are calling the person names. now i think ifyou want to answer those questions that you brought up that would be great.

when you're writing this paper make some distinctions..
In MO they catagorize dangerous dogs..

The thing is. You say Pits.. meaning American Pit Bull Terriers. I own an American Staffordshire Bull Terrier but no one seems to think there is a difference. My dog looks like what everyone calls a pit. Which, can cause a lot of problems when you think of all the everyday things you would do with your dog..
Like walking down the street, boarding, vet care, and where you live. Even if the county you live in does allow any bull dog breeds that doesn't mean everyone around you agrees with you love of your dog.

My 3 three year old Am Staff is the best animal I've ever owned. My daughter was 3 when I got him and has been the biggest addition to our family.

I have had pits for over 4 years now and they are the best dogs out there...they are very loyal and loving although they can be more aggressive than other dogs when provoked.

the best thing you can do for the breed is exactly what you are doing...asking for and promoting the positives...and anyone that owns and loves these dogs should be appreciative of that...we need all the positive press we can get in order to counteract all the negative perceptions out there and to help keep our dogs from being banned in our locality.

Bikerboy...I think you have a lot of knowledge that could help Tabby learn what she doesnt know...I think it would be better if you tried to help her learn instead of berating her for not knowing...she is trying to do something positive for our breed!

Replies like that actually just give our breed more negative press..they see a response like that and automatically assume that all pit owners are harshly opinionated assholes that try to make everyone else look bad while trying to sound all righteous themselves. I know that you came back and apologized but this is not the first time that you have gone off the hook like that at someone on this forum that is trying to post something innocent or trying to get information...and you always come back and apologize and say you reread the post and found out how harsh you sounded. I think that if you stepped back a minute anytime you read a post like this and think about the knowledge you have that can positively enlighten the person and anyone else that may read the post you would do alot more good than the put downs and name calling...

I cried so hard and that is so true how they're said to have a bad rep but it's the way they're treated and raised that really determines how the pit will turn out...I think I said this already but my friend Mike has a pit and her name is Tonka and she's the most loyal dog I have ever met...he was having a party at his house one night and we were all there and Tonka was roaming around and she would not stop following me....I was kind of scared but Mike just said that she wanted attention and so I sat down on the couch and she came up and layed next to me and put her head on my lap and started licking me......I started crying because of how affectionate she was and it was my first time meeting her.....to this day I still wish I would have bought her when he wanted to sell her...... :mad:

and yes that is her redsox hat on and she has a patriots jersey as well.

How many books do you have on "Rauts"? Probably NONE. How many sanctioned clubs of you been to and met breeders form around the country with the breed "rauts". Probably none. How many times have you participated in rescues, care, breeding for specific attributes like drive? Probably NEVER. B/c if you did you shoul dalready to the most basic thing of all time. How to spell the dogs name. So this lead me to think, you know absolutely nothing about most any dog for that matter besides you can recognize them. You don't know anything about origin, history, creation, etc in DETAIL Nothing. So, you haven';t shown me much.

Now you have me getting all ppissy again. Listen. Read it above, if you ask, fine if you don't? I don't care. For all we know in the campaign and clubs, the breeds should be completly banned by the yr 2007 in the entire USA. So all those yrs, down the tube. And you'll lose nothing, while I'll lose more than 2 decades of HARD work.....

just thought i would put my little girl up here.she's 9 and extremely loyal,also protective of the house. a lot of my friends wont come in if they knock cuz she sounds like she's gonna come through the door, but even if your a steranger in my house she'll come sit on the couch with you and snuggle. even though she can be aggressive towards strange dogs (territory thang) we've had the husky since she was about 10 weeks old now shes 2 and they get along fine (but she doesn't get in sadie's way either).


and yes that is her redsox hat on and she has a patriots jersey as well.

great. But from what I read, there wasnt a whole lot of factual substance in the entire thread. A link, was nice but lacked in differenciation and characteristics.

But anyhow, go read a book and learn about the breeds for REAL if you TRULY like them and quit asking for help only to do a report. I bet you'll never ask another question, etc again regarding dogs for that matter. All you wanted was info for a report, and if the report wasn't assigned then you probably wouldn't have asked a damn thing or even tried to lift a finger to do research for personal enjoyment.

Don't worry, I have seen you kind before in my day. Don't take offense to it. Some people think their bubble is more important than anything that goes on around them unless its popular, and thus for that reason alone they like something or someone....
