Hey people,
So Im really new to all of this. I just got my first bike a couple of months ago (2004 GSXR 600). Im finding it difficult and frustrating to do tricks, which is to be expected. Im firstly trying to wheelie. I've been able to get baby wheelies, but nothin past 10 oclock. Ive been tryin to gas it up around 9000 rpm, but it just seems to lack the balls. Ive been told to clutch it up by dumpin the clutch around 5-7 rpm, but it sounds like the transmission is about to bust on me. Any pointers on bringin up the front? I also wanna try other stuff, but I really dont wanna risk layin down my new bike. Kinda wanna keep it in good shape. So would anyone recommend a bike to practice on? Like where I could find a decent used bike, or maybe a stunt bike that someone would wanna sell? Thanks again

i recommend getting a used dirt bike and learning the clutch and rear brake, if you wanna do tricks your gonna have to learn the clutch, powering it up will put you at 2 high of an rpm unless you shift while your already up, but that is harder to learn than clutching.

Not to sound like an ass, but if it's your first bike (and it's a nice one for sure), I would concentrate on learning the bike and basic riding techniques first. Also, trying to learn power wheelies is a waste of time, as none of the skills used in power wheelies translates to anything else.
Keep that gixxer 6 as your "bling-bling" bike. Go find a beat down F2/F3 to learn on.
in my opinion, slow and steady progress is the way to go, so start with the basics (1st gear, sit down, clutch wheelies) and go from there.
good luck

Yeah, Ive pretty much got basic riding down. Just got that itch to try out some stuff! But I've looked around a little but have only found nicer bikes upwards around $6-$9K. I've also been told to try messin around on a dirt bike, but Im thinkin thats a totally different ball park. Thanks though. I'll def keep the gear on.

I started off with power wheelies and it is not the best way to go. yeah they can look good to those that dont know. I was doing them all last summer and now that I cluch them up the wheelies are longer and much higher.....Should have listened earlier....Clutch it.
LUCKY

same here i use to power up, but i learnt to clutch up and stuntin became a shit load more fun...
and dont worry about your box with clutch ups it will be fine on a 04 gix600
i recomend clutch up from a stand still and let the tyre presure down to about 20 psi (rear that is)
but then again it depends on what u wanna do. if you wanna bust high speed freeway wheelies, our you wanna start rocking slow shit,, if you can hold a wheelie at 10 oclock like you are saying, you should have no worries learnig to slow them down.
but its up to you in what u want out of your riding,
p.s if you wanna stunta get a dirt bike first there cheap light and doesnt matter if you drop them 100 times and keep that gix blinging... :check:

Cool,
I appreciate all the feedback. Looks like a dirt bike is a good way to go to get started. I'll just keep looking and seein if I can find something. But as far as clutchin it up, when I dump the clutch around 7 rpm, do I keep accelerating so that the front end gets up? or is it supposed to bounce up immediately? I've tried poppin the clutch round 8 rpm, but it just seems to buck a lil, but not get up. Should I stiffen the suspension in the back? It is still set from stock.

work on the timing of the clutch .sound like ur not hittin the throttle hard enough off the pop.give it more gas before u pop the clutch and as its commin up start letting off(not all the way).the higher u get it the less throttle u need to keep it up.try not to clutch it so high in the rrr's, 5.5-6.5 should be plenty on a stock 04' 6..be carefull and take baby steps to start .after basic wheelies then u can start gettin stupid.get used to the pop and its cake from there.
P.S. post a vid and we can help alot more.no music raw footage so we can hear the bike.

That is what a bunch of my friends did for me. We all went out so it wasnt like the camera was just on me, but it helps a lot cuz even though it seems high the front wheel might only be 3 foot off the ground. Video is a great way to learn

Sweet, I'll give those tips a try. After it stops raining here in Tampa. I'll try to get one of my buddies to film me, even though they are constantly advising me NOT to try anything. But how are you supposed to learn if you dont try!! Thanks and I'll put up some vids when I can.

Yeah video really steps up your game. You typically feel higher than you really are, while learning anyway. Until you get it all figured out.
when I learned to cllutch standups, I was so nervous I was going to fliip over, and I watched the vid of me, and I was like holy shit I can go so much higher than that.

Thanks man. It finally stopped raining and I got the chance to try dumpin the clutch. Kinda got the hang of it, but Ive come down pretty hard a couple times. Needless to say I dont think I can have kids anymore! :ouch: But Im also kinda timid cause I feel like Im raggin the shit outta the bike. Like I said, I dont wanna mess up my new 04 GSXR too bad. Im actually about to buy a 125cc dirtbike. That should help. but I just cant help tryin in the meanwhile! Thanks a lot guys. I'll keep tyring and checkin yall out in the site.

hold on you just started riding and you said you got all the basic riding skills up.. sory man thats inpossible. it takes at least 2 seasons of riding to get your reaction time right.. some people it takes longer.. in my opinion most people thing they are getting it up 10 o clock when they are really gettin it up like 7 0clock.. when you are on the bike and you start pullin wheelies you think you are bringing it up but you are pulling the weight off the forks and teh bikes front is coming up but the wheel is not really coming up.. it might seem that way.. thats what happened with me i thought i was gettin it up until i videoed my self.. saw that than went to power clutching.. i was gettin it up to like 7 oclock and i was suprised cause it feels like you are gettin it up but you are really not.. now i clutch it and am just starting to get it up past 8 oclock or 9 oclock but the hardest thing it riding it out.. i mainly bring it up and put it back down for now until i get the hang of it.. it takes time and dont rush it.. i mean are you in a rush to break a bone? take it easy. youll get it.. but it takes a long time to get the hang of a bike and riding in general , hopefully you wont learn like i did crashing in traffic on a main st in my town... destroyed my bike.. but i got a new one now.. i was thinking i had riding down and i didnt .. i was riding with a wife beater and german helmet (not stunting) and i got side swiped.. reason.. my reaction time was not built up and i could not react correctly for the situation.. i hope this helps man..

first of all you dont have to edit anything... to gain the quick responce time in trafficn and riding.. being big headed gets you killed... so you are saying from the first time yo touched a bike you were doing ape hangers in 2 months..BULLSHIT.. sory man your a lyer. now if you are saying that you had prior experience riding and i took you 2 months from when you started stunting than i can agree on that... NO PROBLEM AGREEING ON THAT. but first time on a bike and 2 months ape hangers NOT. And yes i might be slow but im not ina rush to break bones.. id rather look slow now and be alive than look good now and be in a wheelchair.. :)

i agree with every one that agrees with prozak, ive seen people buy there first bike take 3 days to get use to it and do some sick shit.
and i agree with z-unit 100% of what he justed said, ive been riding for 2 years and just learned how to 12, not due to getting use to it just scared of dropping it and falling off.
i never rode shit when i fist started only took me couple of months to get use to it and doing bp wheelies with in a year. i still suck at stuntin

There you go.. thats more like it, im not a LYER... ( Liar ) I just dedicated my self to stunting and put in a ton of hours. Lots of crashes and parts i went through in the couple months when i was learning. I just wanted you to know it IS possible. I'm the " go big or go home " type. some are , some arnt, but unless you go big, you can try all you want, but its going to take a long time to get anywhere unless you put some risk and effort in.
