honda cbr 600 f2 or f3, they are cheap, plentiful, very dependable, and you can't hurt em, they have a steel frame unlike most sportbikes, great bike to learn on

Uhhh you gotta make your point a little more clearly. Have you ever ridden before? Do you want a sportbike to stunt? To just chill on? Or do you want a sport bike to just chill and rip the occasional highway wheelie on? You can get a really nice and clean Fuel Injected sport bike for 5 or 6 Gs. If you want to get into hardcore stunting I would spend like 4 or 5 grand on a stunt bike that has already been prepped (Cage, bar, sprockets, maybe even MX bars and handbrake) something that has already seen a bit of abuse. It is never fun to trash a nice bike.

IF you just want a clean sport bike that is fast, and can rip hwy wheelies on, get like an R6 or or Gixxer 6, or something that is only a few years old. You can pick them up mint, for 5 or 6 Gs used. They will be plenty fast. Too much for a newb IMO. You'll never outride a race-rep 600 on the street, The bike will always be better than you, if you know what I mean. Unless you take it to the track, and race it would be hard to "outgrow" a bike like that.

If you have never ridden a street bike before I suggest taking the MSF course, and starting on a standard, or cruiser, not a sport bike.

what i want to do with a bike is be able to do 120 with no problem...thats bascically all bikes. but i really would only want to do highway wheelies and flamingos and stuff of that nature. i have been riding quads and dirtbikes most of my life so im used to the power and i just am about to turn 17 and i want to be able to get a bike i can keep for a while that is dependable.thanks for your help

I'd get an F4i.. Good to learn on. If he gets an F2 he will want an F4i right away after a couple months of ridin..

Well as far as sport bikes go, it's not JUST the power of the machine that is not good for a new rider. The handling characteristics of a street motorcycle are much different thana dirt bike, and that usually takes a little bit to get used to. Sport bikes have clip-on handle bars, that don't provide much leverage, and can get land you in the weeds really fast in a corner, especially if you want to ride at the speeds you mentioned above. Also they have high-seats and highpegs, also giving you less leverage over the machine. The streering, and brakes on sport bikes are a lot more twitchy then a dirt machine.

But if you are hell bent on getting a sport bike for your first street bike, I would go with a 600cc sport bike that is one or two years old. Like I said you can pick them up for 4-6 gs easy. Those bikes will pull 150 mph. You can clutch wheelie them in 1st-3rd gear. And if you want even a little more oomph for hwy wheelies you could just slap slip-on on the bike and go down one tooth in the front.

Yeah n/p man. No matter what you do, just ride smart, and wear your gear playa. I've hit the ground at 70 mph and got and up and laughed about it cuz I was wearing a riding jacket and helmet.
