I've been wheeling for a few months now, and I'm still wondering whats best for doing wheelies 50mph plus. Is powering it up the best method or clutching it?

i always clutch my shit up, but thats me... as for 50mph i really don't do that shit unless it's on the highway and still clutch it

always always always alwas clutch no matter slow or fast, best way get the wheelie where it should be in my opionin. I love the slow shit till death but there aint nothing like rockin 3rd gear 12 for a couple miles on the highway

I don't use clutch or throttle... ...I got Hydrolics on my bike, so I just hold throttle steady, hit a switch and it just bounces up to the balance point.

ive been thinkin about tryin a high speed wheelie with my foot on the seat, i did a real long staggard highway wheelie and it got to the point where i almost couldnt hold on any more, my arms were killing me. it seems to me that the bar might get a little shakey but idk, ill let you know when i try

POW POW POWER WHEELIES.......................SUCK
I always clutch up now, whether its 1st gear in the lot, 2nd gear spreader, or 4th gear standup on the highway<----always have feet on front pegs, my 600RR's left rear peg feels way to close, as long as my legs aren't locked out all the way, its rides until I want to put it down(legs are stronger than most I guess)

Tried a 3rd gear wheelie and the damn thing wouldn't come up. I tried bouncing it but no pop. Should I rev it more when i slip the clutch or what??? Whats the best gear for a 50mph wheelie with stock gears?? I haven't got the balancing down for real slow shit yet, or a spot to practice at.

You just need to get more comfy clutching it up and shifting your weight to make it come up easier... Practice clutching up 2nd around 40mph til you get used to it. Then worry about clutching up 2nd or 3rd at faster speeds.
You gotta get used to bouncing right before you release the clutch. Makes it way easier on the bike. Good luck, be safe, and wear your gear.
Whats wrong with 50mph wheelies???

Don't pay attention to the specific RPM... Get used to the sound and the feel of it. You def need more rpm, but take your time, get used to the feel of the motor and clutch more, and pay attention to the SOUND. Shit will become 2nd nature. Also make sure to shift your weight when you clutch it up. Makes it way easier on the bike. AND COVER REAR BRAKE. Be CAREFUL

covering the brake isn't gonna help if you have never used it before

Hmmm well I havent gotten it high enough to point where I have ever gotten a chance to use it? I kno I need to go out and learn the rear brake just as well as I need to learn the clutch.

I finnally got my bike to clutch it up in second gear the other day. I have a gixxer 750 and stock gearing. I was happy to say the least. I have since ordered a +1 rear sprocket to help with this fact. Sorry for high jacking I was just so happy that it worked for me.

Cover the brake if you want but i have never used it and i clutch up in first and second and ride for longs ways...slow shit requires brake...just learning, fuck it and concentrate on how things feel...if you feel unfomfortable, let off the gas and let it drop...keep poppin that clutch over and over and it will come...old saying holds true, practice makes perfect....takes a while but like woo said, it will become second nature...(i ride a zx6r now stock(its for sale if you know anyone interested,,check out buy and sell forum...) but learned the clutch poppin on a gsxr600 stock).... for real just keep practicing and getting a feel for the bike...and LISTEN to the engine...and HAVE FUN
