I wanna start out by saying that I got a lot of respect for all you fellow stunters! I just bought my first dirt bike to start to learn the basics in riding and stunting. I've had a 2004 GSXR 600 for a couple months now and I didnt want to learn on that. (Here's a pic of the dirt bike I got: http://www.teamsavage.tv/On-Line%20...ron/omicron.htm)

So I went out and ATTEMPTED to stunt for the first time.........DAMN, what a joke. I've pulled up my GSXR a lil sometimes, but I def looped the dirt bike today plenty of times. I messed around for a couple hours and I suck! Bad! I think I was just freaked out cuz I've never really brought up the front end of the bike that high. Thank god the bike is so small, cuz if it were a street bike I were practicing on, it would've been totaled by now. I tried wheelies, but it was on the grass in some fields. So my questions are:

-Should I be practicing wheelies in the grass just to get a feel of the balance point? (If I practiced on cement like I did in grass, the bike would've been pretty scratched up)

-When I pop the front up I always seem to steer to one side and end up putting my leg down to catch myself. Any tips on how to stay straight?

I also wanna leave this thread as an open discussion and to have people share their first time experience with stunting. Thanks people! And for all those experienced stunters, KEEP ROCKIN IT!!!!!!! :fiddy:

if u wanna get serious ingto stunting sell the gixxer before u wreck it and buy an f4i or 636..also try doin the wheelies in a higher gear at a faster speed and it wont wobble so u wont hafta catch ur self....

yeah, I def wont try anything on my GSXR until I get it down on the dirt bike. Thats why I got it. I was wondering, should I be leaning back on my wheelies? I've been clutchin up the wheelies with ease, but my arms are bent and im kinda leanin foward. I've seen videos and I notice that everyone leans back. When I lean back, it just feels like Im gonna loop. Any advice? I also see that people are using the back brake when balancing the wheelie. Whats the trick?

yah lean back a lil and when u fell like ur guan flip tap the rear brake lightly and itll save ur ass....also i dont think a dirtbike is guan help much becuz i take it ur wheelin it sittin down..but when u learn to wheelie/12 a biek ur guan be standing cuz sitdowns are alot harder.

Yeah. The only way i can suggest is don't land on your ass. Try rocking back on the landing, it seems easier if you land on the upper ass / lowerback spot.

Still hurts like hell though

Thanks for da advice. Yeah, I've mainly been doin sitdowns. Would you know where I can get foot pegs for the back?

Whoa ....hold up, first off u seem to b new to riding. How long u been ridin and what can u do on the street bike right now, dont b shy we all had to start from nowhere. In my opinion stuntin really requires u to learn the basics in somewhat a skill level order. If your tryin on a mini bike its probably fun but near impossable to learn a balance point on. quads and full size dirtbikes r great but size of tires and weight and speed makes a big difference. The very basics on a street bike "in my opinion" r the 1st gear sitdown and the 2nd gear standup. once u get these u really got a feel for that pussy ....I mean balance point and shit really starts rollin. Let us know your skillz and lets go from there. -crawdad369

Well I've been riding for about half a year now. I havent really attempted to do anything too crazy, just basic stuff. (And I know they say that you have to go big, but I like to keep my toys in good condition and I just got a fear of laying that puppy down and messin it up. I've only got framesliders on there) I've only really done a first gear clutch and power wheelie. And I havent reached the balance point due to the fact that I dont have anyone to video me to review my riding, and lack of cohones! Unfortunately none of my riding buddies are into stunting so I just try stuff on my own. I havent met anyone that stunts around tampa. Some people have told me that I should practice on a dirt bike so that I wont be worried about layin it down. I gotta say it is really different than my street bike, obviously. Maybe I'd mess around more on my street bike if I had stunters to ride with and show me the ropes.

work on your 1st gear sitdowns, try gettin them up as slow as u can safely, "most 600s will power wheelie at 15mph with a yank". clutching is always better but scary to learn especially without learned brake control. practice alot and keep your brake covered.

I can clutch it up in first at around 15-20mph. But I havent gotten bp point yet. When you say "cover the brake", do you mean to have it applied a little before bringing it up so that if I think Im gonna go over it comes down? Or does it just mean to have my foot over the rear brake and ready to hit it?

Hey Chris, how is the THUMPSTAR holding up? Thinking about getting one but haven't heard much about them. :unf: :unf: :unf:

The thumpstar is a pretty cool bike. it comes with a bunch of stuff like nice upgraded suspension, brakes and rotors, exhaust, graphics, and nice handle bars. I took it out to the dirt bike park last weekend and I got a lot of people coming up to me and asking about the bike. As far as holding up, its so-so. I've already broken the front brake lever and bent up the rear brake pedal after some spills. (But I guess thats to be expected after wiping out) But other than that its an awesome bike for the money. Its a blast to ride, but I've found that I need to get a bigger dirt bike for the park. But I'd definetely recommend it for messin around.

I find the the big bikes are easier to learn on, more stable...
Ya just gotta get over the HSF (Holy Shit Factor) of the wheel being up, after that you'll be sweet. I personally say stunt the Gix but that's me.
Cover the back brake means foot over ready to use it.

Good luck with it mate.

Im new too. wish I had a dirt bike or 4 wheeler to fuck around on to get used to being vertical but no such luck. Im only doin the faggoty lil power wheelies right now in first...gonna be honest really dont like power wheelies and really dont like 1st gear, but i dont wanna just rush right into faster 2nd gear wheelies. Ive just recently started clutching the RIGHT way...I was doing it all wrong before, just probally doin nothin but burnin the clutch up. And even tho i dont like power wheelies...the first time I did one I was just like "holy shit" came up faster than I expected. Plan on getting a cage later theyre worth their weight in gold from what Im told...ofcourse I guess anything that saves ur engine is. Good luck with learning man hopefully we'll both have sumthin to show at the end of this season :D
