I've finally got slow stuff down. I can hold em around 2-3k. I've been going on stock idle and just been being smooth with the throttle. I tried turning the idle up to 3k but it didn't seem to make any difference, whats the deal? I think i might be using to much back brake cause the rpms would just continue to go down when i closed the throttle. Second question is how do u turn this shit? Just lean like a normal wheelie or what? The lot we have is not flat at all so most of the time i just go where the bike takes me but i wanna learn to steer this pig.

If ur gearing is within 10 of stock, turn it up to 4000, if ur more than that go to 4500 so you'll be going a little faster. Once you get the hang of it, slowly decrease your idle. Once you catch the idle, just give the brake taps, dont ride it the whole time.
You steer by hanging off to the side you want to go. keep your shoulders parallel to the bars, steer with your feet, push on the left peg to go left, you know the rest
i put my weight on the peg of the direction i want to go, and with the idle- i don't use any brake until the bike starts falling backwards, then tap it to hold it there

Maybe you guys can help.... I started idle wheelies, but I can only take my hand off the throttle for a moment before it comes down again. If im using the throttle, I have to keep blipping it to maintain BP. I have been told my idle is too low (around 2500-3000), got a 99 900rr and hane 15/55 ratio. Any ideas on how to keep the bike on BP? The other prob I have is too much rear brake, but I found if I dont use enough im on the 12 bar. The pic you see is about as far as I get, I take my hand off, and then she comes down again :boggled:

Try puttin your idle around 3500-4000. Sounds like your idle is too low and your having to be extra light on the brake. With more rpm you'll be able to get used to your rear brake a little more. Body position is really important too. Try grabbing your triple clamp or something (since you're not running an upper) and hanging back. Grab that shit with your left hand, lean back and take your throttle hand off.... This give you more leverage and control. It is def possible to do them where your idle is now,...but it would be more difficult to learn with the idle that low.

Go slower and/or turn your idle up more.

I gotta be careful when I put my idle too high.
I'm just at the point of finding that secret "spot" that everyone is talking about.
I'm with Stooge on this one. If I throw my idle up a lot if I let go of that brake just a little I always end up on the bar. I feel like I hang way too much off the back. There is a lot of stress on my hands.
I'll find this stupid spot real soon...

Cheers guys for the replies. Yeah, I think at the end of the day it is finding that spot, so like you pavementeater, gotta get out and practice. Im about to put a bar accros the front above the headlight that I will use for high chair work, so maybe I can hold onto that for the idle wheelies too.

gotta be smooth with the brake, if you tap it to hard down it will come, i have a 900 2 down 7 up and my prefered idle is 3000, and i can do no throttle hands all day, just takes practice you dont want your idle to high cause then you aint controllin the bike, its controllin you.............2 cents -chuck-
